How to Get Your Oakton Library/Student ID Card

To get or renew your Oakton Library/Student ID card, please bring your Student Detailed Schedule for the current semester and a picture ID (driver's license or state ID) to the circulation desk at the Oakton Library Des Plaines or RHC Skokie campus. You can use your Oakton Library/Student ID card to check out books and renew books.

How to Borrow a Book from Your Oakton Campus Library:

Take the book and your Oakton Library/Student ID card to the Des Plaines or Ray Hartstein-Skokie Campus Library Circulation Desk. Staff will check out the book.

How to Borrow a Book from the Other Oakton Campus Library:

You can borrow a book directly from the other campus library using the Oakton Community College Library Catalog and your Oakton Library/Student ID card. The easiest way to do this is to ask at the circulation or reference desk for assistance. If you need help requesting books, please call (847) 635-1642 or (847) 635-1432.

How to Borrow a Book Online from Other Academic Libraries in Illinois

Oakton Community College students and faculty may request interlibrary loan books from other CARLI member libraries through the I-Share Catalog by using your Oakton Library/Student ID card (CARLI is the acronym for Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois.) If you need help requesting books, please call (847) 635-1642 or (847) 635-1432.

The library staff will email you when a book arrives at the campus library where you requested the book to be sent. To pick up your books, please visit the circulation desk with your Oakton Library/Student ID card. If you don't have an Oakton Library/Student ID card please apply for one at the circulation desk.
